Asteroid

Asteroid is a 2020 male TSK Axanthic Pastel Enchi that was produced here at Circle A Serpents. He hatched out looking like the average example of his genetics but at his second shed, he started developing these dark scales. Over the next several months he shed more often than the rest of the babies from his clutch and grew darker and darker. The darkness developing was no brown but a slate blue and black. His remarkable appearance moved me to dedicate a project specifically to studying the gene that caused him to change and furthermore, naming that project “Asteroid” after him. In 2022 he produced a clutch with 3 out of 9 offspring also developing the dark coloration around the same time he did as a hatchling. I will continue to work this project over the foreseeable future to try and further isolate the genetics at play.
